AGWELL THERAPIST PROFILEAngie Payne
Counselling Therapist (ACTA)
Angie Payne brings a deeply relational, experience-based approach to therapy, shaped by her work with both people and horses.
She is a Counselling Therapist registered with the Association of Counselling Therapists of Alberta (ACTA) and a Certified Equine Gestalt Coach. Her work is rooted in the belief that many emotional challenges come from not honouring our thoughts, boundaries, and beliefs until they become overwhelming.
After 25 years in a corporate career, Angie shifted her focus to supporting others through more meaningful, connection-based work. She now integrates equine therapy into her practice, offering a unique and grounded approach to personal growth and healing.

WHAT ANGIE SPECIALIZES IN
Angie works with individuals navigating:
anxiety
depression
trauma
grief
relationship challenges
life transitions
Connection to Agriculture
Angie’s approach is centred on safety, connection, and creating space for meaningful personal work.
She integrates equine therapy with approaches such as narrative and trauma-informed therapy, along with training in somatic experiencing, hypnotherapy, and Hakomi psychotherapy.
Her work often involves partnering with horses, who can help individuals become more aware of their emotional patterns and find greater balance physically, emotionally, mentally, and spiritually.
Clients often describe feeling immediately safe, seen, and heard, which Angie sees as essential to the therapeutic process.
Angie has worked closely with farmers, ranchers, and rodeo participants for several years and has been part of the Rafter U7 Ranch for over a decade.
Through this experience, she has developed a strong understanding of the unique stresses and realities within farming and ranching communities, even though she was not raised on a farm herself.
Her work is grounded in both observation and direct experience within these environments.
