AgWell was proud to partner with Young Agrarians to host two powerful days focused on farm transitions, identity, and the future of agriculture in Central Alberta.

Together, we brought farmers, new and aspiring producers, educators, community members, and researchers into the same room. That mix matters. Farm succession is not only a financial or legal process. It is personal, relational, and deeply tied to identity.

This full-day gathering is designed for new and aspiring farmers who want to connect, learn, and build relationships that support a stronger local food system.

We are partnering with Young Agrarians for a workshop on farm succession and transitions. This event brings together farmers, experts, and community members to share knowledge and practical strategies for planning the future of your farm.

We joined partners from the Alberta SPCA at the Animal Welfare Symposium to highlight a project focused on improving support for farmers and their animals. The session was part of the inaugural Animal Welfare Symposium hosted by the Alberta SPCA, which brought together community leaders to explore complex issues at the intersection of animal welfare and human well-being.

This is an incredible start to supporting local farmers, ranchers, and rural community as a whole in addressing healthcare accessibility and essential resources in Rocky View County.

Dr. Rebecca and one of her research assistants, Casey Hartman, participated in an amazing event hosted by Young Agrarians: Farm Tour and Grazing Workshop at the Ellis Nature Centre in Lacombe, AB.

Dr. Rebecca at AgWellAB has partnered with other leading researchers in farmer mental health to study this important topic and foster real change. Our team includes Dr. Michelle Pavloff from Saskatchewan Polytechnic, Dr. Briana Hagen from the Canadian Centre of Agricultural Wellbeing, Dr Andria Jones from the University of Guelph and Dr. Joe Wiebe from the University of Alberta.
